Is a painful period always a sign of endometriosis?
Asked 2 years ago
Whenever I tell someone about how painful my period cramps are, they tell me that I probably have endometriosis. Is it possible to have a painful period without having endometriosis?

Painful periods aren't always indicative of endometriosis; they might also be caused by a distinct condition known as dysmenorrhea. Scar tissue, past infections, or a history of appendicitis can all cause pelvic pain. Pelvic pain can also be caused by irritable or inflammatory bowel syndrome. Period pain is unique to each woman, although the majority describe it as acute and cramping. Women with endometriosis use similar descriptions, although their pain is usually more intense.
