At what stage of menopause can you have children?

Asked 2 years ago

I know that I will be going through menopause soon because my periods are getting lighter and lighter. However, my husband and I would still like to have children. At what stage of my menopause will I be able to have my own children?

You can still get pregnant during perimenopause, and you haven't officially reached menopause until you've gone a whole year without getting a period. However, you're usually unable to get pregnant between 5 and 10 years before menopause, and the chances decrease with age. This is because you are born with all the eggs you'll ever have.
