What are the main causes of endometriosis?

Asked 3 years ago

I have been experiencing a lot of pelvic pain like I'm going to have my period, but the timing is off. So I am wondering, how does a woman get endometriosis? Does it grow in the uterus itself?

Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the uterus' lining grows outside it. Typically, it affects over 11% of US women between 15 and 44. Endometriosis can make it much harder to become pregnant. Fortunately, there are different treatment options available to manage the symptoms and increase chances of getting pregnant.
