Does endometriosis affect egg quality?
Asked a year ago
I have endometriosis which I've been struggling with since my early twenties. My husband and I are wanting to expand our little family of two by having a baby. However, I am worried that my endometriosis could affect the quality of my eggs. Is this a possibility?

Endometriosis may affect egg quality by reducing the flow of blood to or within the ovaries. This happens when endometriosis results in the formation of scar tissue near or inside the ovaries which in turn affects blood flow and reduces the quality of eggs produced. Alternatively, endometriosis may lead to the formation of cysts in or around the ovaries which may disrupt the ovaries' ability to produce the estrogen and progesterone needed for healthy egg development.
